Mechanically controlled
ventilation systems

Print this page

Keep your home economically cool

With mechanically controlled ventilation (MCV) systems, the aim is to expel air trapped inside homes by sending it outside, and by proportionally sucking up fresh air. Effectively, the confinement generates a concentration of toxic products emitted by modern buildings, computers, etc. polluting air that enters into our lungs and enters the bloodstream.

Mechanical ventilation systems may range from very basic - for instance, an exhaust fan and a timer - to more sophisticated systems that may be ducted to multiple locations, pre-condition the incoming air, and/or be tied into other mechanical systems in the home.

There are different techniques according to the level of performance required :

Simple-flow MCV

Fresh air from outside goes firstly through a home's rooms and is evacuated in rooms by an extraction group comprising of a ventilator. An auto-controlled simple-flow MCV will constantly remove air, regardless of the exterior conditions (wind, rain) or interior conditions (number of occupants, humidity etc.).

Humidity MCV

The air is extracted according to the internal humidity, which helps guarantee a quicker evacuation of very damp air, whilst limiting waste. ArtEcoLogis installs these ventilation systems as standard.

Double-flow MCV

This system is the most powerful in terms of renewable energy. It limits the loss of heat associated with ventilation, recuperating the heat of the stale air extracted from the houses, using it to reheat new filtered air from outside.

A ventilator pulses this pre-heated new air in the main rooms of the house by means of an exchanger. The equipment needed to do this is more costly than a simple flow MVC, but it allows for greater economy in terms of heating.

By capturing between 60% and 65% of the energy contained in the extracted stale air, a saving on heating of between 15% can be made compared to a classic simple flux and about 8% when compared to a humidity flux.

Stale air and new air are swept up by two ventilators. Between the two flows of air a heat exchanger guaranteeing recuperation of between 60 to 65 % of loss due to renewal of air. Coupled with earth cooling tubes, it is even more powerful. Art EcoLogis prefers to install a double flow MCV to not only protect the environment but also the health and wellbeing of our clients.
